ACESA represents a united voice, on behalf of member schools, to Cambridge International Examinations.

We aim to assist Principals, Schools and Educators to offer Cambridge Qualifications in a Southern African context.

Update from Cambridge International regarding May/June 2020 Exams

Update from Cambridge International on May/June 2020 exams  The situation with the Covid-19 outbreak is changing rapidly. In recent days, many more countries have decided to extend school closures into May and June, making it impossible for many of our schools to hold examinations. We have been consulting closely with our global community of schools, who need as much certainty as possible at an uncertain time. Our priority is to protect the safety and wellbeing of our students and teachers, ensure fairness for all our students and support them in continuing with their education.  Today, therefore, we have taken the difficult decision not to run our international examinations in the May/June 2020 series in any country. This includes Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge O Level, Cambridge International AS & A Level, Cambridge AICE Diploma and Cambridge Pre-U. We recognize that students have been working very hard towards these exams. We will be working with schools to assess students’ achievements using the best available evidence. ACESA Sports and Culture League” for ACESA member schools.

Association of Cambridge Educators in Southern Africa ACESA is pleased to announce the establishment of the:          “ACESA Sports and Culture League” for ACESA member schools. Sporting disciplines envisaged include: Swimming Athletics Cricket Cross country Netball Basketball Action Frisbee Cultural activities envisaged include: Chess Choir Debating Public Speaking Spelling Bee If the league works with the above codes, we will look to expand the offering going forward as there are still many other sports and cultural activities that could be added. The league will operate in age groups and focus as far as possible on six-a-side sports so that schools can enter various age groups. Come along to the AGM and find out more about this exciting offering!

Delegates will have an opportunity to learn more about Cambridge International, how to deliver Cambridge Global Perspectives in the classroom and the resources available from Cambridge University Press. The training will be delivered by key speaker, Keely Laycock, course work and teacher resource author of Cambridge IGCSE® Global Perspectives and International Approaches to Learning and Teaching in Global Perspectives.

Please come prepared with any questions and with the energy for some experiential and exploratory learning!

Profile Keely Laycock, author of Cambridge IGCSE® Global Perspectives and International Approaches to Learning and
Teaching in Global Perspectives
Keely has been involved in the field of education for almost 30 years. She holds a Masters in Online and Distance
Education, a BA Hons degree in European Languages and Institutions and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. She
has extensive teaching experience and has been Head of Modern Languages and has trained and mentored Initial
Teacher Training students and Newly Qualified Teachers. Keely has a wide range of experience in assessment,
development and as an examiner. She has delivered teacher training internationally as well as in the UK. Her first
Coursebook and Teacher Resource for Cambridge IGCSE® Global Perspectives was published in March 2016 and her
