As a world leader in providing international programmes and qualifications for school education, we are expanding our international team in Sub-Saharan Africa. Having a dedicated local team is an important part of supporting our growing community of almost 700 Cambridge schools and working effectively with universities and governments.
We are delighted to announce that Juan Visser joined us on 1 May as Regional Director, Sub-Saharan Africa. Juan is based in Midrand, South Africa. He joins Senior Schools Development Manager Mark Barber who is based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Juan has a strong understanding of the education sector, having spent the last 12 years working for City & Guilds International (an independent awarding body) as the Regional Manager for Africa. He has a Psychology Degree and an MBA from Wits Business School, and his extensive experience in education will be extremely valuable for both www.cie.org.uk and www.acesa.co.za.
Juan says, “I am delighted to join Cambridge International Examinations and look forward to supporting our Sub-Saharan Africa schools as well as our learners to be the best they can be.â€
Juan will lead our Sub-Saharan Africa team as well as building and strengthening relationships with schools, universities, governments and key education organisations including publishers and the British Council. His appointment will support the growing popularity of Cambridge programmes and qualifications in the region as well as enabling us to build a larger team covering East and West Africa next year. Mark will continue to be a key player in the team and work with our schools across the region, allowing Juan to focus on other important areas of the business to support our growth.
